RACTON RUINS INVESTIGATION

RACTON RUINS

This was my first paranormal investigation at Racton Ruins in Racton, Stoughton, Chichester, England along the rest of the team who are firstly Brian, Aaron B, and Aaron P. and I am Steven P. (no relation).
We arrived at the watch house which is also thought to be called Stansted House at about 7pm and set about looking at our surroundings in the remaining sunlight left.

HISTORY OF RACTON RUINS

Racton Monument (Racton Ruins) is a folly situated on a hill obviously in Racton. It was commissioned by the 2nd Earl of Halifax, possibly as a summerhouse for the nearby Stansted Estate, though an alternative theory suggests it could have been constructed so the Earl could watch his merchant ships dock at the nearby port village of Emsworth. (Info Wikipedia)

It was designed by architect Theodus Keene, son of Henry Keene, and constructed between 1766 and 1775. The building stands at four storeys high (80 feet (24 m)).
It is currently owned by a private owner who also owns Sindles Farm a Mr Chris Velton and he has planning permission to turn the monument into into a dwelling but as I now he has not started work.

THE NIGHT DRAWS IN

At about 8:45 the four of us started our ghost search each with our own ghost gadgets at our disposal I myself had a digital camcorder to record the nights investigation but unfortunately the light refused to work properly inside the ruins and the battery drain very fast almost as if some external energy was sapping so despite recording we had more audio than visual. I was able to record some evp's though and they gave for interesting reading.

Sadly the Racton Ruins have been the venue for numerous deaths whether murders or depressed people sadly taking their own lives with the last being in 2009. The depressed man whom I will not name had five children and a wife but financial problems and marital problems took its toll and he didn't feel he had anywhere to turn. There have been rumours of satanic rituals taking place and there is certainly alot of images drawn on the walls, so you get the feeling of unhappiness from the get go.
The particular image immediately above had a very energetic feel about according to two of our team and it felt like someone or something is watching you and wants you to go.

THE EVP's

The EVP's (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) gave out some names, places and causes of death but at the time writing this I have only found little bits of information. The folly was rumoured to be a place to hide monks but I have not been able to confirm this. The names Anthony, Arnna and the words church, strangled, priest amongst others.

CONCLUSION

I think that with so much sadness around this building can bring about a sense of apprehension and so your senses are heightened. I myself had a nauseous feeling but this maybe due to the fact this was my first investigation. My feeling hasn't changed about the paranormal I neither believe nor disbelieve.

A Christmas Eve Disaster:  The Tangiwai disaster At 10.21 p.m. on Christmas Eve 1953 the Wellington to Auckland night express plunged into the flooded Whangaehu River at Tangiwai, 10 km west of Waiōuru in the central North Island. Of the 285 passengers and crew on board, 151 died in New Zealand’s worst railway accident. It was, at the time, the world’s eighth-deadliest rail disaster and made headlines around the globe. The nation was stunned. With New Zealand’s population just over two million, many people had a direct relationship with someone involved in the tragedy and so it felt like an emotional disaster not just a national one. The place name Tangiwai means ‘weeping waters’ in Māori. The timing of the accident added to the sense of tragedy. Most of those on the train were heading home for Christmas, armed with presents for friends and family. Those waiting to meet their loved ones at the various stations up the line had no sense of the tragedy unfolding on the Volcanic P...
